Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between seeing a counsellor and a psychologist?
Both counsellors and psychologists support mental wellbeing, but their focus differs.
A counsellor helps clients explore emotions and life challenges in a supportive space, while a psychologist may also provide assessments, diagnoses, and specialised treatments.
Counselling at Gentle Space focuses on personal growth and emotional understanding through evidence-based approaches.
What is online counselling?
Online counselling is conducted via secure video calls using Google Meet. It allows you to access professional support from the comfort and privacy of your own home.
How long are sessions?
Each counselling session lasts 60 minutes. An initial consultation (30 minutes) is available free of charge to discuss your needs and see if we’re a good fit.
Do I need any special software or equipment?
No special software is required — you’ll receive a Google Meet link by email before your appointment. You only need a reliable internet connection, a computer or device with a camera, and a quiet, private space.
What issues can counselling help with?
I support clients experiencing stress, anxiety, life transitions, low mood, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, and general wellbeing concerns.
Is counselling confidential?
Yes. All sessions are private and confidential in accordance with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and the Australian Privacy Principles. Exceptions apply only if there is risk of harm to yourself or others.
How do I pay for sessions?
Payments are made securely via EFT (bank transfer) after your session. An invoice and receipt are provided electronically once payment is received.
Can I cancel or reschedule?
Yes. Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed sessions without notice may incur a fee.
